A work of art makes a room. But how do you choose the one that suits your interior? Four practical considerations point the way, and at the bottom you can hang a work on your own wall with Live View.
Size and scale. Match the size to the wall and the furniture beneath it. A good rule of thumb: above a sofa or sideboard, a work (or a small group of works) fills about two-thirds of the width. Give it breathing space all around; a generous piece is allowed to make a statement.
Light. Art lives with light. Daylight makes colours glow, but avoid harsh direct sunlight, which can fade pigment over time. View a work in its intended spot at different moments of the day: cobalt blue and warm tones read differently in morning and evening light.
