Heino Naujoks

Heino Naujoks (Cologne, 30 April 1937 - Munich, 22 January 2025) was a German painter. In 1958 he took part in the summer academy 'Schule des Sehens' under Oskar Kokoschka in Salzburg and afterwards studied at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Munich.

In 1959 he founded, together with fellow students, the artists' group WIR, which later merged into SPUR and GEFLECHT. From the outset, Naujoks grappled with the tension between figure and abstraction; initially influenced by analytical cubism and Informel, he developed a spontaneous, gesture-driven hand. From 2007 he was a member of the Bavarian Akademie der Schönen Künste.
